What I would have given for my truck now in the past!

What I would have given for my truck now in the past!

I spent the best part of twenty years of my life travelling and living in “camper” cars, vans and trucks. New Zealand, Australia, US, Canada, Europe. How much more fun it would have been to have had the truck I have now. Still, the lesson in there, is to always go with what you have at the time. If you wait for everything to be perfect, then it will often be too late.

But even so, it’s never too late to have a good truck and I still have plenty of exploring yet to do! No doubt I’ll have the truck finally finished (I want a 2” lift and bigger wheels), and then it will be time to move to the sailing boat and become a yeti pirate…

Isn’t that just bloody typical!!

On the other hand, maybe I’ll just build the perfect fly fishing truck and sell her to someone really deserving. And believe me, I know very well both the requirements and limitations, of the “perfect” fishing truck!

Talking of selling, over the next 24 months I plan to sell my fly fishing guiding business here in Malaysia. I have a few thoughts on how to do this; just selling the boats won’t cut it for me, and I think I need to train the buyer and teach them everything I know, about how to guide for Giant Snakehead and Giant Gourami, and how to teach the respective shots. Maybe this is you? Also I need to make the buyer a Front Page writer. It’s a great business, for the right person/friend.  The truck goes with the business. After all, fly fishing guides need off-road fly fishing adventures too!

That’s one option, and I think the best one, because who knows when, or even if, I’ll come back? The second option is that I run a business and employ the right person/people (which sounds like work) and the third is that I put everything into storage. But right now, I’d rather sell a business AND make sure it works.

I have a video on this, that I haven’t edited yet. Speaking of videos, I plan to film and upload the Launch Drill today. That may or may not happen. If it does, I’ll have to do it in one take, or max two, because I’m on the road. It’s Ashly’s Birthday Week. Currently we are on the Malaysian East Coast (I ran a 12km Sunset Run along the beach this evening).  Tomorrow: it’s Cameron Highlands, for tea, it’s famous for tea. Thursday we are in KL for a swimming lesson… and then it’s back to Gerik and on the lake again.

Gourami await.
