I’m pretty flat out at the moment and I’m fishing with a new guest from Hong Kong. Ben is an Aussie and is doing fantastically well and has landed two Snakehead in two days of fishing. The first was a free-riser that’s been really good. The last two evenings of looks like it might happen what will do and the second an adult off babies. We have had a few other looks and three proper Gourami shots as well. One of which looked at the fly for about a minute before refusing.
It’s Ben’s third and final day with me alone today in like the other and we are going to prioritise Gourami. But fully expect shots at both species. Great stuff.
Then on Wednesday we head up Sungai Tiang where he will fish with the local guides and I’ll hang out and no doubt fish a little following from behind. Maybe some more Snakehead or Gourami fishing on Saturday evening and then I will have quite a lot of Sexyloops catching up to do.
When fishing comes first, as it does for me, then guiding comes first too. It’s fishing too for me in its own way of course. Everything is at 110% effort and I treat it as I would if I was the one making the shots.
It is wonderful to see Ben being successful. His second cast landed the first Snakehead. That’s not bad going!!
The Gourami are out and about. Slightly less Snakehead babies around. And the freerising activity is starting. It’s great to be on the water!!
Have a fantastic week!!
Cheers, Paul
