Fly Fishing Week

Fly Fishing Week

Bernd Ziesche | Wednesday, 15 June 2016

Last week I was - yes - into fly fishing as usual. I can't remember when my last none fishing day was. And it doesn't look like there will be one until the end of the year. Lots of fly fishing trips in the pipe still!

Last week we were fishing the famous river Mörrum in Sweden until Saturday. The water temperatur was between 18 and 20°C. The water level was between 8 and 9m³. With such hot and low water it gets extremely difficult to catch an Atlantic salmon. Simply they are in a none striking mood. Usually in this time of year the Mörrum would offer 14 - 16°C and 20 - 30m³. After I landed one salmon in the begining of the week I lost a second one in the end of the week. Not bad in general but in regard of having seen a truly large number of salmon entering the Mörrum all week long it was a pitty to have such difficult water conditions. We are looking forward to have little colder and higher water next year. Mörrum really is back to a serious stock of Atlantic salmon!

Back home on Saturday evening I went fly fishing for asp in my home river Elbe. Got some smaller ones and had a lot of fun fishing (skating) the surface. Within the next days I was back into teaching fly casting and fishing for pike perch in the evenings.
All in all I had a great fly fishing week again!

Today I will run another fly casting lesson and then get ready to leave to Norway tomorrow. Marina and I will be teaching fly fishing for grayling, Brown trout and pike in the river Glomma for a week and then move over to the Norwegian island Smöla to teach fly fshing the Atlantic ocean for several species of fish. We are both pretty much excited about the next two weeks loaded with tons of great fishing!

On July 23 + 24 Paul and I will be offering a fly casting course near Hamburg! So if you are looking for a fly casting tuition regarding to improve your fly casting skills by the help of two pretty experienced instructors - this really might be worth to come over!? We will teach everyone individual and the max number of participants is limited.
On August 14 + 15 I will be running fly casting lessons in Switzerland together with team fly with us.
The weekend after Marina and I may participate in the world championships in Tallin - decision still has to be made.
Lots of travelling to be involved though - couldn't be much better!

Great fly fishing week to all of you!

All my best
Bernd
