It’s all about to happen…

It’s all about to happen…

The new revamped Sexyloops website is looking great. It should be ready in a couple of weeks I think. We are getting some traction with our rod manufacturing again and expect to have caught up with all of our current orders in the next few weeks. If you order a Hot Tortuga today it will take about 5 weeks to deliver. I’m trying to speed that up and later this year actually have rods in stock, ready to ship at a moment’s notice.

Some of our orders this year have taken a very long time, and for that I apologise. For anyone who has waited a significant amount of time I’ll be giving two Zoom casting meets by way of thanks for your patience!! There has been a few delays. Looking down the line I’m hoping to have a part time builder in Australia later this year and we may also have a builder in the USA next year, which is something we are discussing.

I’ve just ordered some new Sexyloops invisibility hats. I will have these in stock very soon.  I’m not sure how to sell these, particularly since stock will be here with me in Malaysia, which will mean me visiting the post office!! I’m thinking that maybe we sell them with shirts. I don’t know yet and that’s a decision for a campfire with Ron.

I’m really looking forward to when everything is up and running properly. I’ve been buying a lot of stock recently; of rod rings, cork and components. I see everything coming together in one dramatic swoosh. Which is interesting because it certainly wasn’t planned that way!

The new X-system is truly great and it means we can ship out replacement sections without having to have the rod or ferrules returned to us. And if in the future we can have sections ready to ship from Spain, Australia and the USA then I think we will have really great service.

I’m in the middle of making a Roll Cast video today. I made one take last week, which I haven’t watched yet. This is going to be quite a long video and so I think it’s worth shooting again from a different angle and then splicing together. After shooting the first part I had shots at a couple of very nice sized free-rising Snakehead. So I plan to return to this same spot this evening, to shoot the second part of the video and to make shots at these fish again, if they are still there.

But before that I need to swim! Two months to go to Ironman Malaysia. Cycling is good. One long ride/week 5-6hrs and some shorter ones. Running is good, usually two long runs/week now of 21km. Swimming…. Hmmm! I have been working through an excellent book on leaning to swim better but have to really train to make these patterns autonomic. But I think it’s having an effect. But I need to be swimming 8-10km/week and I’m not doing that!! Why? Because being attacked by the sort of huge Snakehead that I fish for, really doesn’t sound like fun to me! And it *can* happen; I met a woman who has a friend who was attacked by one. It's extremely unlikely of course, but that doesn't stop my imagination from driving me nuts. And what really worries me, is if I’m attacked by a huge Snakehead, does that make me the bait? As a fly fisherman that’s a line I certainly don’t want to cross.

I’m very busy teaching via Zoom. If you are interested in developing your cast, particularly if you train your casting and have plateaued, then drop me an email to see what is available. I can and would like to, bring in one or two more students at this time.

Have a great week. I’m off to swim with the fishes, shoot a video and catch the big one.

Cheers, Paul
