This is going to be a very quick FP this week as we've not been up to much in the way of fishing or casting. The weekend just gone Tracy and I were at a friends wedding, so it was a case of too much to eat and too much to drink, followed by a recovery. Luckily the weather cleared for the time of the outdoor ceremony, which was very lucky because it had been pretty bad in the week leading up to it. However, the weather turned horrible the day after and has been like that since. I had hoped to be honing my accuracy casting for the BFCC meeting this Saturday, but so far this week I've barely been outside of the house (other than to the local shop).

As I mentioned last week, Saturday sees the last (full) BFCC casting day of the year and we're trying our best to drum up some interest. There's lots of good reasons to attend a BFCC day wherever you are on your fly casting journey. If you're a total beginner the instructors would love to help you before you ingrain any poor habits. If you're an improver then they'll help you get over any inefficiencies that they see. If you've progressed beyond that and are thinking about becoming an instructor then they will teach you how to teach. And if you're preparing to take a CI or MCI then they will take you through what will be expected on assessment day.

Obviously Tracy and myself will be in the competition area. Don't worry if you're not interested in competing – no one will force you to take part or you can pick and choose any events you feel like having a go at, it's entirely your choice. The competitions will run throughout the day where we will cast various outfits from #5 weight trout outfits through to the monstrous T120 double hander (I don't know what AFFTA number that would be equivalent to – probably off the scale). Whoever does the overall best will win the championship trophy, hopefully this one-off event format will encourage some casters to come and have a go.

Hopefully I'll see some of you on Saturday, have a great week,

James.
