Tracy&James | Sunday, 1 October 2023
This weekend James and I have driven all the way down to Essex for the last BFCC Competition of 2023 – in Bentley Cricket Club on Sunday 1st October. Hopefully the turn out for the day will be good as the weather actually looks nice for tomorrow – currently planned to be dry, sunny with a consistent wind. As usual we will have some great casting instructors providing excellent advice throughout the day and thankfully the cricket club bar will be open to keep us all hydrated and relaxed.
It's also the last opportunity for casters to try to win the 2023 BFCC British Championship with top three contenders being Bart, James and Steve. This year we actually have a real trophy to award the winner rather than the virtual one we've been 'presenting' for the last five years. We got it engraved with all the previous winners, obviously missing out 2020 – so Matt Tonkin 2017, Kei Okamoto 2019 and James 2018, 2021 and 2022. Before we left home I got James to sit with his fly casting trophies for the last year, including this one; that will be for posting later in the week on Instagram.
Only a week after this comp, James and I will be off to the Bahamas for our saltwater trip and we've already been checking out the tide table to work out where we'll go in the first few days. My aim this year is to catch a good size cuda and a trigger, plus of course lots of bonefish – my favourite fish. I think James wants to catch a large shark, preferably one bigger than mine, just so he can take the 'biggest fish caught' from me. As usual we will also have a competition to see who gets the first bonefish – I won this last year, the first time in years.
Whatever you are doing this weekend, enjoy, and if you're in Essex, come along and have a cast with us.
Cheers
Tracy
