Make Haste

Make Haste

I’m back in the UK for a couple of weeks at short notice for some family reasons. Man it’s cold! Trying to run here today I certainly didn’t feel like an Ironman. More like Iceman! The Garmin watch didn’t help much either, when it gave me a condition factor after the first kilometre of -4. Thanks for that!! Mind you, I started with two tracksuit tops, two tracksuit bottoms and a raincoat, only to discover that I needed one less tracksuit top after all. It was 14C.

Amazing how the body adjusts… actually that’s not true… I have no idea how anyone lives here!! Early humans leaving the jungle tropics to live in cold climates? There are some things I’ll never understand about early man! There is no way I would leave the tropics to come here under any circumstances.

So while I’m here I’m online coaching. The time zones are pretty good now for all my students apart from Graeme in New Zealand. USA/Canada your morning is my afternoon. Europe is easy. Philippines my morning is your afternoon (that might be difficult Michael).

We had a huge rod building delay, with one of our main rod components suppliers recently, when we ran out of reel seats and so did they! That’s never happened before in ten years of dealing with them, and we now have a 12 rod waiting list. Fortunately we are clearing this very quickly. Ten of the rods were built all apart from butt sections. Almost all of these will be shipped this week.

Sorry about that; I got completely caught out. I take full responsibility and will endeavour that it doesn’t happen again.

Now is a good time however to order up your HT. We have the 666 competition in full swing. Every rod purchased goes into a competition to win a 2 weeks, all expenses paid, SW fly fishing trip on the upcoming Sexyloops yacht, bringing Sexyloops from an ocean somewhere near you. And of course every rod gets a 1hr Zoom casting meet with me. If you are an instructor, with the instructor discount, then you need to buy two rods for one entry. And if you buy blanks to make up at home, then two blanks for one entry. Very exciting!! Good luck!

So what I would say is this… live life like you mean it. What I learned from my stepfather was that the only person truly responsible for your own life is yourself, that absolute integrity has to exist at the core of every relationship, whether personal or business, to think before you act, and that you really need to fit as much into this life as you can.

I would also add, that you can’t take good health for granted and you need to work at yours every day. My sports background also came from my stepfather; he coached me and my childhood friends to play some really outstanding rugby.

We had a small meeting in January of this year together, with my rugby friends. We all still play sport, although of course they all look older and uglier than me. Especially Simon. So maybe you need a life of clean thoughts as well.

There are three policemen, one rugby coach, one fly fisherman and four homosexuals in this picture.

Have a good week!
