Mud Racer

Mud Racer

Last weekend was more or less fishing weekend. Our friend came visit and I was fishing with him Friday and Saturday. Forecast was kind of gamble yet it turned better than expected. Weekend was filled good food, fishing, great company and few drinks.

Stefan arrived late Thursday. Friday I had really do some work as weather was good and dry and forecast promised heavy rains coming.  So I spread fertilizer on our fields and then we took off.

There is nice river which you can have access on both sides, mostly it requires some walking. East side is little bit more driving and walking than western side. My original plan was to go to eastern side as it is always better when more walking.

As our start was delayed I changed plan during driving. So western side it is. There is access to river with small road, it is always driveable during fishing season. So I took that one.

After 100 meter there is muddy spot and after that it is okay. We got closer to spot and Stefan said that lucky we didn't take his car. I saw that it is really muddy from left side and as I drove over many times, I took right as it looked better.

I aimed tyres from right to good surface and thought that it will be enough to carry us thru. It worked well for first 2 meters, and next meter not at all. Left front tyre sank like a rock to mud. We tried some tricks to get backwards yet those didn't work as our car is only front wheel drive and it sucks in these situations.

I knew there is house just 200 meters on other side of main road, so we walked there to ask help as I knew that they have tractor also. When we came to yard and asked help, their first response was that what the hell... didn't you see that someone has been there already stuck?

I said that yes I saw that left side is no good and right would work. People said that they allready saved earlier in the morning someone with fourwheel drive. Guy admited later that normally this time of the year it should be easily driveable. He helped us out, and I gave some cash for him.

First I thought that we change fishing spot, yet I realized that spot will be untouched as no-one has been able to drive end of track and there was no car between mud spot and main road. So we took short hike to river.

I caught 2 graylings and we spent some time to figure out how we could fish other side of river.  We found lot of rising fish, as usual on other side. Lot of fish in small area, first Stefan tried to wade in spot that he could cast, as he didn't know river and with high water impossible to see bottom he had to give up.

My turn, I could reach much better spot and I was able to cast, only 2 or 3 was long enough, yet presentation was shitty so no result. I saw two huge grayling rising and saw their fins. We saw those fish earlier already. Stefan checked upper part but found only some small graylings. We had lunch break and watched rising fishes on other side of river.

We walked back to the car and moved downstream to check other spot. We spent some time in small area casting rising graylings and trying to figure out what they eat. Stefan landed 2 and I had one rise on fly, not easy day yet extremely fun and interesting.

In the evening we had dinner, Stefan had made Persian food and I fried some vendace. Outdoor dinner with few beers, absolutely great end of fishing day.

As soon as I hit mud with car and we went out Stefan gave name Mud Racer, not sure if he meant me or car. Saturday morning before leaving from farm for fishing, he washed Mud Racer, the car. Left front tyre was truly looking like mud racer.

Have a nice weekend and go fishing
