Random Observations

“It's on the strength of observation and reflection that one finds a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly.”

-----Claude Monet

I have no idea what the above quote has to do with anything angling-related, but I posted it anyway. Mainly because there is no fishing going on for me in South Texas right now...unfortunately. There are however some things I have been pondering that may or may not be worth mentioning on the Sexyloops Front Page...I'll let you decide.

  1. I am REALLY enjoying Martyn's social media posts on his flickingfeathers page detailing his fly patterns. So many of the patterns he posts, I find a lot of utilitarian crossover in the type of fishing I do. Many of the Tarpon style flies he's detailed would work fantastic for Largemouth Bass. His W/B Zonker tied with a conehead on a size 1 or 2 Tiemco 600SP should make a KILLER Redfish pattern. If you haven't checked out Martyn's tying resources, they are well worth a look. Additionally, we look like we could almost be brothers.... a couple of handsome devils he and I are.
  2. This month marks my third year writing a Front Page slot for Sexyloops. It's been a fantastic and gratifying experience, and I hope Paul will continue to have me. Writing this weekly page has really forced me to dig deep and examine my relationship to the craft of angling. I'm not sure I have actually figured all that much out, but at least I am thinking about it...and that is a good thing!
  3. It seems that having a nickname may well be a prerequisite here at Sexyloops. A few weeks back Paul referred to me as "Andy The Redneck", which puts me in the best company with "Mika The Legend" and "Viking Lars".
  4. This coming Saturday is Christmas, so let me take this opportunity to wish all of you the happiest and healthiest of holidays. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. If these past two years have taught us anything, it's how fragile all of our lives are, and how even on a global level, we still all rely on one another.

Hope you're all staying safe and healthy, and Merry Christmas!
