Season Greeting 2025

Season Greeting 2025

Tracy&James | Wednesday, 24 December 2025

As we're nearing the end of 2025, James and I would like to wish everyone season's greetings. We hope if you're celebrating you are enjoying all the socialising, eating and drinking that is integral to activities at this time of year. We would like to thank Chris for writing on our day for quite a few weeks – it was lovely to hear about how he progressed to becoming an FFI casting instructor and we look forward to continuing to have his support at BFCC activities. The club is only successful if volunteers like Chris support Mark, James and myself with the events and we very much appreciate everyone who helps us.

We've had a significant amount of rain over the last few months in the UK and as such the rivers nearby are high, murky and running fast. A few weeks ago, a high profile annual fishing competition was cancelled mid way through due to the treacherous conditions of the river Dee. Our friends from Jersey were in the lead at the time the competition was halted, so they took the overall win and the goodies that went with it.

Prediction for the next week is very cold, but finally dry, so we're hoping that we'll find some time to get to the river for some fishing. It's been a while since we've fished. Our casting practice has continued, however it's not so easy to do this when the ground is muddy and the atmosphere dense and damp. Whilst we wait for the river condition to improve, I'm sure we'll be doing some distance training and hopefully some accuracy too. I am working on modifying my distance style to increase the stroke length, though I have many more hours to get this drilled in.

As more detail is becoming clearer about the next Worlds, we are aware that we need to keep August free to travel to Northern Italy. I already have some dates for the BFCC Calendar such as the usual Scottish and English Game Fairs in July, and another potential country sports show in June. We've also been invited to run BFCC meetings in north east England and Derbyshire, as well as organising some of the usual locations like Jersey and Essex. The Calendar will become the focus of my time during January. There'll be the usual gap in the BFCC events in Spring, when James and I travel to the Caribbean for our annual saltwater fishing trip. Hopefully this time James will avoid any mishaps and be able to fish normally.

Whatever you are doing over the festive season, enjoy

Cheers

Tracy
