These days of what I call "raping the environment" where it's all about me..all about me. Well the all about me attitude is going to catch you sooner or later. Pretty soon the all bout me attitude is gonna mean NO FISH.

One of my favorite things to do when I am out in the shop packaging epoxy is to listen to some sort of angling related podcast. Many times on this board I have referenced Andy Mill's podcast, The Millhouse. Andy's podcast however focuses almost exclusively on guides in Florida. Very little in the way of documentation has been done with guides here in the great state of Texas. Recently, The Speckled Truth Podcast featured legendary guide Cliff Webb on their podcast. Although Cliff is not known as a flyfishing guide, his name is synonymous with the pursuit of trophy trophy speckled trout in the Laguna Madre...more specifically the Baffin Bay complex.
The podcast delves deep into Cliff's lifelong history fishing Baffin from a very young age, as well as his father's story as a game warden who was tasked with ridding the Laguna Madre of illegal netters back in the 1960s and 1970s.
Having written a significant amount of historically important angling literature myself, I can vouch for how critical it is for stories like Cliff's to be documented for future generations of anglers. Not just from a historical standpoint, but from a conservation standpoint as well.
For the saltwater fly fisherman, there are some amazing stories about the quality of the fishery back in "the old days". Additionally, there are some valuable tips on how to stalk large sight feeders like speckled trout.
I have provided a link to The Speckled Truth podcast below. I hope you enjoy listening to Cliff's stories as much as I did.
Hope you all are having a great week,
Andy
